Welcome back for day 11! I’ve been busy today with family, so I think I’ll just talk about stuff that happened this weekend that I have forgotten to talk about.

What that amounts to is that the other day, after setting up and toying with FreeBSD on my ThinkPad T480 I decided I wanted to dual-boot it with Gentoo. One issue I ran into however is that I installed FreeBSD with ZFS first. For those of you who don’t know (much like me until this) ZFS cannot be resized, so I literally could not make space for Gentoo.

My motivation behind it was that it’s been a while since I’ve had Gentoo available to mess around with, and this would be the most powerful system I’ve had it on (my first install (which I daily drove!) was on my ProBook 6570b, then my second was an attempt on my 2007 Mac Mini). The other big reason is just that there is a lot more I can do with Gentoo in terms of customisation than I could with FreeBSD, but I still want to take a crack at it again soon.

As of now, I’ve got Sway and Noctalia set up, and it’s pretty cool. A lot less work and admittedly feels less personal than when I used Hyprland, but at the same time I really don’t like the dev of Hyprland.

To catch up to today, I’ve continued setting up a Minecraft server. Whether I use it or not remains to be seen, but it is all set up with plugins and everything when I do want to start it up. I did plan to go out shooting like I mentioned yesterday, however it was raining so I never got the chance. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving so I’ll try and get out then. It really truly has been bothering me how little I’ve been going out shooting the past few months and I wish I could just get out of the god damn house.
